CARVED WHITE JADE TEAPOT.

Republic period, China. Supported by three short and tapering columnar feet, the body shaped similar to bowl, lightly carved with taotie masks on the sides, the handle carved in the form of mythical beast, the flat and wide shoulder attached with an arched handle, hanging over the cover carved with additional taotie masks and a flower bud finial. The stone of smooth white and slight russet. Compare to a smaller white jade teapot without handle, sold in Christie’s London on November 4 2008 Lot 9, for £205,250, Also compare a smaller and celadon jade teapot, sold in Christie’s New York on March 2012 Lot 1884, for $110,500.
