*COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL 38 AMU AUTOMATIC PISTOL.

SN 71945. Cal. 38 AMU. (Army Marksmanship Unit). Built on a SN 71945 .38 super receiver. Bbl marked “Colt .38 AMU”, left slide marked “Colt .38 AMU Automatic” followed by Rampant Colt, front grip strap finely checkered, rear strap serrated flat mainspring housing. Hammer polished flat-sided. Rear sight marked on right side “Bo-mar Pat.” Front bbl bushing very tight cannot be removed without wrench. Serrated trigger has adjustable stop. Bbl lock up appears to be very tight, and no apparent movement between slide and receiver when in battery. Mag marked “Colt .38 AMU”. Stocks are full finely checkered walnut.Accompanied by a Colt wood grain cardboard box with 4 factory magazines and a small grouping of replacement parts .These include a bushing, trigger, hammer,safety and sear. PROVENANCE: The Frank H. Wheaton, III Collection. CONDITION: Entire pistol shows 98% orig finish with only some scuffing on the left side of the slide and bright points on the front grip strap checkering.
