*DAINTY AND DESIRABLE 20 GAUGE BOSS SIDELOCK EJECTOR LIGHT GAME GUN WITH CASE.

SN 9311. (ca 1962) Cal. 20 ga. 2-1/2″ Chambers. 26″ Chopper lump bbls are engraved “Boss & Co 13/ 14 Cork Street. London. W. 1″ on narrow, swamped game rib. Bbl flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2-1/2” chambers. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with SNs. Rear portion of bottom rib is engraved “Made in England”. Small sized, classic Boss sidelock action is stocked to the fences, and features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), bushed strikers, gold line tumbler end cocking indicators, and dbl triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved in Boss house style with small scroll surrounding 17 small rose bouquets in the style originated by Jack Sumner. “Boss & Co” is on front portion of each lockplate, and trigger plate is engraved “Boss’s Patent” “No. 22894”. Blued top lever and single beaded trigger guard are engraved with matching scroll. SN is on trigger guard tang. Nicely streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/4″ over hard rubber ribbed buttplate. Stock features classic drop points, and flat top point pattern checkering with mullered borders. A gold oval engraved with monogram “LCB” (?), is on toe line, and a small black leather cheek pad is set into comb. Matching splinter Boss ejector forend has Anson release. Bore diameter: left -.614, right – .614. Bore restrictions: left – .013 (mod), right – .004 (IC). Wall thickness: left – .027, right – .026. Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Cast: approx 1/2″ off. Weight: 5 lbs. 6 oz. LOP: 14-1/4″. High quality English leather VC case with stitched leather corners (possibly original) is embossed “G. M. B.” on top. Interior is lined in burgundy cloth and has Boss Cork Street label in lid. Case contains 2-pc walnut and brass cleaning rod with mop, brush, and jag, pair of snap caps, and straps. CONDITION: Excellent, original, as found. Bbls retain approx 80% orig blue, thinning on sides from normal hand wear, considerably silvered at muzzles, and with a number of light marks and rubs. Action retains 70 – 80% orig case hardening color, silvered on beads and fences, and thinning on bottom. Lockplates retain over 90% of their orig color. Top lever is silvered on thumbpiece. Trigger guard is silvered on edges and bead, considerably silvered at grip. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their orig finish with numerous small marks, rubs, and compressions. Rear portion of butt, possibly refinished, with installation of newer buttplate. Checkering is somewhat worn and dirty. Bores are excellent, bright and shiny, slightly frosted or leaded toward breech end of right bbl. Bottom of action has small dent behind hinge pin, and there is an incipient crack in stock behind left lockplate. Action has just a hint of looseness. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is still light in color, and has numerous rubs and chips. Handle is good. Interior cloth is fine, lightly soiled, with a few rubs, some through.
