SN 59131. Cal. 30-06. 23-1/2″ One third octagon, 2/3 round bbl with integral rib is fitted with tangent rear sight, graduated out to 1000 yards. Rib rises toward muzzle to form ramp for silver bead covered by sight protector. Unmatted portion of rib is marked “WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER A. – G. OBERNDORF am NECKAR”. Caliber designation “7.6 S” is on bbl shank. Commercial Mauser action with usual proofs and makers markings on side wall, are also maker marked with name and address on receiver ring, along with “U.S. 1906”. Bolt retains classic pear-shaped commercial knob, and has short cocking piece and flag safety. Bottom metal, fitted with late style double set triggers, has hinged floorplate retained by button in trigger guard bow. Nicely streaked European walnut horn capped pistol grip stock measures 14-1/4″ over early type horn buttplate embossed with checkering and “W M” monogram. Standard checkering is at grip and forend. Forend tip is of schnabeled horn. This style of rifle was specially ordered by N.Y. import agent Hans Tauscher for the American market. Drop at heel: approx 2-15/16″, drop at comb: approx 1-13/16″. Cast: neutral. Weight: 7 lbs. 11 oz. LOP: 14-1/4″. CONDITION: Excellent, as partially refinished. Metal parts retain over 90% of what appears to be their orig blue, with bright blue of guard screws, etc. enhanced. Stock is nicely refinished over a few light marks, checkering lightly worn. 1/4″ x 2″ piece has been let in under bolt stop, as most likely rifle was originally fitted with Lyman 35 sight. Bore is excellent, bright, sharp, and shiny throughout. Action is smooth. Set triggers work. This model is hard to find in good condition. 50655-18 MGM253 (6,000-8,000) C&R – Lot 3210
