PRUSSIAN GUARD LANDWEHR PIONEER OFFICER’S HELMET MODEL 1871.

Early black lacquered leather body with silver trim and gold chinscales. Leather body has excellent form and firm stitching. Lacquer finish is excellent. Interior has early officer’s style flat tab leather liner. Inner visors are colored. No extra holes in helmet body. Handwritten name of wearer inside front of helmet bell. Frontplate is the Prussian Guard eagle without banner. On eagle’s breast is a silver star with a gold Ladwehr cross in the middle. Officer’s spike and base held to helmet with gold star retainers. Flat gold chinscales with silver rosettes. Officer’s style Reichs and Prussian cockades. PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben.
