BAVARIAN JAEGER BATTALION OFFICER’S SHAKO OF 1914.

Black leather Shako style helmet covered in black cloth. All metal trim is fire gilded. Helmet body has excellent form and firm stitching. Interior sweat leather and silk head liner. Sweat leather stamped with the name “Diringer”. No extra holes in helmet body. Frontplate is the Bavarian emblem in gold. Flat chin scales on rosettes. Officer’s Reichs cockade on right side. Bavarian officer bullion field badge on crown. PROVENANCE: Certificate of Authenticity from Helmut Weitze; The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Excellent inside and out. Leather finish has no crazing. Interior silk has slight pulls to where it is sewn to the sweat leather but is not detractive. 51586-11 RT (2,000-3,500) – Lot 3201
