WUERTTEMBERG “KINGS” 26TH DRAGOON RESERVE OFFICER’S HELMET MODEL 1897.

Black lacquered helmet body with silver trim and gold chinscales. Leather body in excellent condition with perfect form and firm stitching. Squared front visor. Interior has officer sweat leather and silk head liner. Frontplate is the frosted silver Wuerttemberg emblem on which is mounted a silver star with the enameled center of the Royal house order. Gold reserve cross mounted below star. Holes behind frontplate slightly elongated. Crossed silver spike base with smooth spike. Gold star retainers. Gold rounded chinscales under silver rosettes. Officer style Reichs and Wuerttemberg cockades. PROVENANCE: Receipt from Andreas Thies, The Art of Chivalry; The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Very good. Interior shows dirt discoloration due to age and use. Frosting on frontplate subdued due to age. No damage to enamel and star. 51586-49 RT (5,000-8,000) – Lot 3173
