CAST-IRON LIGHTHOUSE MECHANICAL BANK.

Circa 1891, American. This fine original example of a lighthouse and keeper’s house. Bank designed on rockwork with a hexagonal base with two slots for coins. The slot in roof functions as a still bank, while the second at the top of the tower acts as a mechanical bank. Round button at the top of the tower accepts the coin into the tower upon being pushed. The stack of nickels can be seen through the window apertures at the top of the tower, and the bank can be opened from below when it is full, having taken 100 nickels. SIZE: 10-1/4″ h. 6-1/4 ” dia. CONDITION: Original surface, paint on the tower with abrasions and spot losses throughout. Mechanics appear in good working order. Very good overall. 50316-1 (2,500-3,500) – Lot 3171
