EMPIRE ROSEWOOD DISPLAY CABINET WITH EBONIZED TRIM. Second quarter 19th century, France. The rectangular cornice with arched molding beneath the pierced crest of scrolling leaf tips and volutes flanked by suppressed urn finials, the frieze applied with a similarly carved decorative element. The whole with canted corners above the conforming rosewood case fitted with a central glass panel door within a molded frame, the upper corners applied with floral sprays, the interior fitted with two plate glass shelves and lined with a pale yellow/green silk fabric in the Oriental taste. The lower case fitted with a long drawer applied with ebonized molding above a concealed slipper drawer with scrolling ebonized foliate molding. SIZE: 9′ h x 47″ w x 20″ d. CONDITION: Cabinet retains original varnished surfaces, now somewhat dry. 9-90157 (1,250-2,500)
