COLUMBIA TEDDY BEAR BRAND “LAUGHING ROOSEVELT” BEAR.

Circa 1907 5-ways jointed teddy bear is excelsior stuffed and made from golden colored mohair. Traditional American style bear with long, thin limbs and proportions with felt paw pads. When stomach is pressed, the mouth opens up to reveal two white teeth. Face is detailed with brown and black glass pupil eyes and hand-embroidered black nose. Three black claws on each paw and foot. Produced as a novelty from a manufacturer in New York in response to the teddy bear craze of the period. SIZE: Overall 18″ t (47cm). Sitting 12″ (30cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection.
