*◊ MAUSER C96, LARGE RING SHALLOW MILLED, LAVISHLY ENGRAVED, WITH A STOCK, AND A PRESENTATION CASE WITH ACCESSORIES.

SN 32631. Cal. 7.63mm. Standard configuration Large Ring Shallow Milled C96, extensively engraved, with 5.5″ bbl having fixed front sight with slip-in 50-1000 rear sight. Long extractor, single lug firing pin, large ring hammer. Usual chamber markings with full SN on the left flat. As true for a number of factory engraved guns, the acceptance and proof marks have been relocated. In this case, the Crown/Crown/U has been moved from the left side of the bbl extension to the right chamber flat and the antler proof on the right side of the bbl extension is further back than usual. Right side of frame with 2-line address. The refinished gun is delicately engraved with a fine scroll pattern that extends to the top of the cursor and each side of the hammer. Fitted with replacement checkered walnut grips. Lanyard ring present. Detailed disassembly shows all matching parts except for an unnumbered firing pin. Accompanied by re-numbered matching stock and a high quality black, leather bound and weighted, presentation case measuring 18-1/2″ x 12-3/4″ x 3-1/2″. An oval unmarked silver plated plaque measuring 3″ x 1-3/4″ is mounted on the lid that is lined with maroon cloth having gold imprint “WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/AKTIENGESELLSCHFT/OBERNDORF a NECKAR/(Deutsches Reich)”. Compartmentalized base, lined in maroon velvet, made to separately hold the pistol enclosed in stock, reproduction Putzstock cleaning rod measuring 16″, and six leather reproduction ammo box cases (five black, one maroon). PROVENANCE: The Friedrich-Wilhelm Dauphin Collection, Germany. CONDITION: Retains approx. 90% of the refinished and artificially aged rust blue with most wear having been applied to the front of the magazine well and the grip straps. Artificial aging has been equally applied to all of the re-heat treated small parts. Grips aged with blunted checkering to match the rest of the pistol. Dull bore with moderate oxidation. Perfect manual mechanics. VG stock with considerable oxidation of the hinge and artificially aged lug.
