SUPERIOR AND RARE FULL ORGAN SWISS MUSIC BOX BY PIALLARD VAUCHER FILS.

Circa 1877, Sainte Croix, Switzerland. Serial number 547. Fine example completely and professionally restored by Reg Smith of Dahlonega, Georgia, and is accompanied by written document and CD of restoration. 10-3/4″ cylinder plays twelve operatic airs by Verdi, Handel, Donazetti, Rossini, Faust, and others. At rear of case is mounted a silvered arched tune selector with dial. Additionally marked “P.V.F.” 10-3/4″ cylinder played by forty three brass keys and a like number of reeds. Music box housed in a period rosewood veneered case with inlaid front and lid. Marquetry within rosewood and tulipwood cross-banded border. Cabinet fitted with cast brass Gothic Revival carrying handles. Note: On case frame beneath cylinder plate is written in pencil script Paillard Vaucher Fils Ste. Croix, Suisse”. SIZE: Case size 11-1/2″ h. Overall length 24-1/2″. 14″ d. PROVENANCE: From a southern Maine private collection. CONDITION: Movement has been professionally cleaned, restored, and calibrated, and is in very fine operating condition. Case has been professionally cleaned and polished.
