ROCOCO CARVED GILTWOOD ARMCHAIR. Last quarter 19th century, Eastern European. The rectangular back with ornately carved crest rail decorated with molded C-scrolls, floral clusters and leaf tips joined to winged sides similarly carved, each centering a bust of a cherub, continuing to downscrolled arms with dramatic rolled hand grips, the sides with volutes, on shaped and molded supports carved with flower heads centering a trapezoidal seat frame with serpentine front rail, the central shell carving raised on frontal dramatic cabriole legs terminating in snails feet raised on brass casters. SIZE: 44-1/4″ h. Overall: 28″ w. Seat frame: 14-3/4″ h. CONDITION: Chair retains original gilded surfaces, upholstery has been removed, frame structurally very good. 9-90152 (750-1,250)
