UNUSUAL EARLY POST-WAR STEIFF BROWN SILK PLUSH TEDDY BEAR.

Teddy is made from brown artificial silk plush, a color not noted in the standard Steiff Sortiment reference books. He is 5-ways jointed and has tan linen paw pads. This combination of silk plush and linen paw pads is distinctive to the late 1940s when traditional teddy bear making materials were in short supply or nonexistent. Teddy has classic proportions to traditional pre-war designs. His face is detailed with a black hand-embroidered nose and mouth having brown and black glass pupil eyes. With partially working side squeaker. Teddy retains his short trailing “F” button and fully legible yellow ear tag as his Steiff IDs. SIZE: Overall 9″ t (23cm). Sitting 7″ t (18cm).
