LARGE SCENIC ROYAL VIENNA TWO PART COVERED URN.

The cover has been glued at the top and a brass and metal rod now supports the body of the base, can be separated. The 10″ tall painted scene depicts a “Lohengrin” type scene with men and women in a lush landscape with river and castle. It depicts 2 separate scenes of the “Lohengrin” figure leaving on a swan boat. The scene is artist signed by “F. Holzel”, below which in the gold beaded band is written “Der-sieg” (The Victory), under the scene in the same band “Lohengrins-ankunft” (Lohengrin’s arrival). The base with cobalt ground and gold highlights having 2 round scenes also signed by the artist. Blue beehive mark to base. SIZE: 33-1/2″ h. x 12″ w. (widest). CONDITION: Altered as noted above, loss to blue ground at juncture of top and body, otherwise scene is vibrant and complete. 49046-2 (800-1,200) – Lot 3074
