GILT BRONZE CENTERPIECE WITH FLINT GLASS INSERT.

Mid-19th century, France. The work of Louis-Emile Cana b. 1845. The bronze and dore bronze plateau raised on scrolled legs surmounted by crouching wolves. The plateau decorated with a border of grape vines, the interior with a mountainous forest landscape populated with quail, pheasant, rabbit, and other game. Signed “E. Cana”. The center of the plateau with gilt metal mount surmounted by displayed bronze hawks within which is fitted a flared flint glass vase. SIZE: 14″ h x 11″ dia. CONDITION: The plateau with original surface, now with areas of verdigris and light corrosion. Gilt surfaces with some wear due to cleaning, the trumpet vase with flea bites and minor roughness to edges of top lip, otherwise very good. 50647-16 (250-350) – Lot 3064
