RARE EARLY WHITE STEIFF CENTER SEAM BEAR WITH BUTTON.

This bear is a delightful combination of everything Steiff bear collectors love. Teddy is made out of white mohair, which has mellowed a bit over time. Teddy is 5-ways jointed and very light indicating she is stuffed with excelsior as well as kapok. Teddy has tan felt paw pads with four hand-embroidered claws on each. Teddy has long arms, long narrow feet and a prominent back hump. His endearing and precious face has a center seam, black shoebutton eyes, a lightly shaved muzzle, and a brown hand-embroidered nose and mouth. Only 1 out of 7 early Steiff bears have a center seam face, making them extremely desirable for collectors. Teddy has his small trailing “F” button as his Steiff ID. A wonderful example of turn of last century Steiff craftsmanship and design. SIZE: Overall 20″ t (50cm). Sitting 14″ t (35cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection.
