RARE GUSTAV STICKLEY TREE OF LIFE BOOKSTAND. First quarter 20th century, New York. This early version with quartersawn square top on corbel supports joined to slab sides with incised tree design on arched bases joined to four fixed shelves with leather facing fastened by tacks. An unsigned example, but with paper label of the retailer “CHARLES F. DOLL FURNITURE, WASHINGTON ST. BUFFALO, N.Y.” Note: A nearly identical example sold at Treadway Gallery, Cincinnati, OH. Lot 179, May 22nd, 2011. SIZE: 43″ h x 13″ w x 13″ d. PROVENANCE: Property of a New York gentleman. CONDITION: Bookstand retains original dark finish.
