*COLT 1911A1 LATE TRANSITION MODEL PISTOL.

SN 709300. Cal. .45. 5″ bbl. Colt 1911A1 Late Transition Model (shipped 1924) Pistol. All parts appear to be orig and properly marked but bbl lacks typical “K” marking in front of lug but marked with a “5” in front of lug. Bbl has “HP” having common leg visible through ejection port. Receiver feed ramp fully blued. Receiver right side marked “United States Property” over SN behind slide stop pin with #20 assembler’s mark on upper right trigger guard bow. Final finish marks show no change in direction under stocks as is correct for transition pistols. Coarse fully checkered walnut stocks. Fully blued stock screws. Checkered mainspring housing. Long tang grip safety. Checkered wide spur hammer. Checkered thumb safety and slide stock. Upper left trigger guard properly lacks verified proof. Checkered milled short trigger. Upper receiver flat shows “H” in front of disconnector hole and “G” to rear. Front sight is narrow rounded with “flattened” top. Rear sight has round notch. Right hand slide marked “Model of 1911. U.S. ARMY”. Serifed “H” on flat over firing pin stop plate. Unnumbered under firing pin stop plate. CONDITION: Minor scratches on right receiver. Wear on front grip strap, possibly due to rack storage. Typical edge and corner wear from holster. Slide shows numerous scratches and dings on most surfaces with moderate wear to slide holdback notch. Bbl shows considerable wear on front portion of bbl. Bore grooves eroded and slightly pitted. Bore appears dirty. Overall, slide has 85% orig finish with a multitude of minor dings and scratches. Receiver shows 95% orig finish with a few dings. Mag is Colt type IV two-toned blued with no lanyard loop and no marking on base plate. Some surface erosion on sides apparent. Base plate very good+. Overall, a very attractive transition model lacking only the conventional “K” marking in front of bbl lug. 51696-1 KXK (3,000-5,000) C&R – Lot 3038
