*COLT .455 CALIBER COMMERCIAL 1911 TYPE GOVERNMENT MODEL PISTOL MADE IN 1916.

SN W29249. Cal. .455. 5″ bbl. Colt .455 caliber commercial 1911 type government model pistol made in 1916. Receiver right marked “Government Model” over SN W29249. Right side upper trigger guard bow marked with “Verified Proof”. Lower left trigger guard bow marked “Y”. Right slide marked “Colt Automatic/Calibre .455 (Second 5 is spaced slightly further away). Left hand side shows standard Colt 1913 patent dates followed by Colt’s standard address with Rampant Colt to rear and crown over “V” proof. Receiver marked crown over “V” below thumb safety. Bbl marked crown over “V” and crown over “P” visible through ejection port. Bbl marked “5” in front of lug and “W” on left lug. Bbl hood has abated groove under hood for semi-rimless .455 Webley cartridge. Slide front sight is thin, round, flat. Rear sight has “U” notch. No marks above firing pin stop plate. Slide bottom rail marked “E”. Slide rear sight registration mark lines up with mark on slide. Receiver marked “J.J.” above upper trigger guard bow. Mag is Colt two-tone commercial lanyard loop type. Mag bottom marked “CAL .455” over “ELEY”. CONDITION: Bbl lands and grooves show significant pitting. Front grip strap has large ding. Moderate takedown scratch. Small dings below slide stop. Slide has moderate salt and pepper corrosion underneath the Parkerised (phosphate) finish. All parts except mag and mag catch assembly are refinished with British applied phosphate finish. Mainspring housing under lanyard loop shows multiple scratches apparently from use of lanyard. Most of the Parkerised refinish remains on all parts with the exception of bbl lug and locking lugs. Left stock in very good+ condition, with wear only at the bottom. Right stock shows considerable wear and flattening of diamonds along with buggering of wood from a screwdriver. Mag has severe crack in rear right corner. Mag catch assembly has orig type finish but may be a replacement part. Overall, a nearly orig .455 “JJ” marked, Webley government model pistol that has been refinished in the typical British fashion. 51696-7 KXK (2,500-4,500) C&R – Lot 3029
