UNUSUAL FULLY JOINTED STEIFF RABBIT CIRCA 1920s.
Rabbit is 5-ways jointed, solidly stuffed and made from light blue mohair which has faded gently over time. Distinctively curved arms, straight legs and oversized long feet with black claws and no paw pads. Large ears are lined in wire and are posable, and show traces of pink highlighting. Face is detailed with black and brown glass pupil eyes, pink hand-embroidered nose and black mouth, and a touch of red to indicate his lips. Rabbit retains his original monofilament whiskers. With large trailing “F” button as his Steiff ID. SIZE: Overall 15″ t (38cm). Sitting 10″ t (25cm). PROVENANCE: Ex-Christie’s lot 45, sale #5035; Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection.
