EXTREMELY LARGE BLACKSMITH MADE BEAR TRAP. Massive trap with dbl. springs, 46″ from tip to tip. The jaws are 16-3/4″ wide, four teeth riveted on one side and three teeth on the other. The pan is flat iron, 7-7/8″ dia. The chain is of extremely heavy links with the swivel on the trap end and a large hand forged 3-tine hook on the other. There is a small piece of very old, very dry wood trapped in the jaws, apparently a piece of the wood used to trip the trap the last time. Accompanied by three short pieces of chain with hand forged wedges on each end and an old hand colored photograph of an old time bear hunter with a huge dead Black bear titled “KILLED BY ART JACKSON-DEAD STREAM SWAMP HOUGHTON LAKE MICH.” The consignor states that Mr. Jackson was the owner of this trap.
