RICHMOND CARBINE. NSN. Cal. .58, 25″ part oct. bbl. Dated 1862 at the rear of the lock marked “C.S. / RICHMOND,VA.” at the front. “U” inspector mark on the right side of the two bbl bands. The rear sight in incorrectly installed and is probably a replacement. There is a piece of paper probably cut from a Bannerman catalogue varnished to the stock. The original leather sling is broken and the buckle is detached, but present. Brass buttplate and forearm tip. Faint traces proof marks at the rear of the bbl appear to be Harper’s Ferry. The interior of the lock is very dirty. CONDITION: The bbl and bands are mostly a light gray patina. The lock has splotches of light rust and pitting. The stock has numerous dents, scratches and a sizeable gouge on the comb but is still solid. The sling is dry and cracking. 4-46548 FS240 (10,000-20,000)
