COLT PATERSON MODEL 1839 SHOTGUN. SN 162 except wedge SN 174. Cal. .16ga, 26-1/4″ round bbl. Marked “Patent Arms M’g. Co. Paterson, N.J.-Colt’s Pt.” with star and sine wave at each end on the left side of the bbl. A large rear sight is installed at the rear of the bbl. There is a German silver plaque inlaid in the upper tang. The cylinder scene on the 3-1/2″ cylinder is different with a large running buck in one cartouche, the balance is illegible. CONDITION: The bbl retains about half of the damascus pattern finish. The rest of the metal has a brownish to blue-brown patina. There are a number of dents at the top of the bbl and front of the cylinder. The wedge has been reblued. Wood has numerous handling marks including small cracks at the lower tang and a gouge at the buttplate. 4-46503 FS256 (10,000-15,000)
