TWO CARVED FLEMISH GILT WOOD MIRRORS.

18th-Early 19th century, Europe. The first with rectangular mirror plate with arched top within a molded surround. The carved and molded gesso frame gilt decorated overall with shell cresting flanked by foliate scrolls, with subsidiary cresting at the center of each side. The second smaller mirror with carved wood and molded gesso frame centering the rectangular mirror with arched top within a molded slip. The whole gilt decorated and with a foliate crest. SIZE: 1) 33″ t x 26-1/2″ w. 2) 19-1/2″ t x 15-3/4″ w. CONDITION: 1) Significant losses to plaster decoration and subsequent losses to gilding. Frame structurally intact retaining old if not original mirror plate, original backboards absent. 2) With dry crusty surface, frame structurally intact with losses to areas of plaster, subsidiary cresting with old repairs, surfaces original with losses as stated.
