UNSIGNED (Early 19th Century) A PORTRAIT OF A MAN AND A PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN IN WHITE GOWN.

Two unsigned oils housed in early 19th century frames. 1) Half length oil on canvas portrait of Joseph Harrod, inscribed on verso “Joseph Harrod b. Haverhill Mass April 22, 1785 died Annisquam(?) 1875 married September 27 1809″. 2) Bust length portrait of a lady in an elegant white empire waist dress with a coral brooch, gold earrings, and lace bonnet. The lady is seated on a red velvet chair with upholstery studs and a red velvet curtain pulled to the right, revealing a snowy landscape in the distance. Unsigned oil on panel. SIZE: 1) 11-1/2″ x 10. Overall 13-1/2″ x 12″. 2) 11-1/2″ x 9-1/4″. Overall 15″ x 13”. PROVENANCE: Maralyn Young estate, Arundel/Falmouth Maine, being sold unreserved. CONDITION: 1) Canvas is laid down on wood panel, wrinkled, restoration along bottom edge. 2) Panel has large shrinkage cracks and frame has multiple losses to gilding. 51412-37 (800-1,200) – Lot 2347
