OUTSTANDING PATRIOTIC GEORGE WASHINGTON HOOKED RUG BY JANE MCGOWN.

The rectangular rug having a 6″ border of scrolling flowers outlined with dark green borders. At the center bottom it is signed “J.M.M. 1976” below which is “1732-1799″ (Washington’s dates). The rectangular center having a 20” h Washington in full military regalia tipping his tri-corner hat and sitting atop his grey charger “Blueskin”. Other vignettes include a 13-star American flag, an eagle sitting on a British crown, Mt. Vernon, his famous telescope which now resides in the Mt. Vernon collection at the Smithsonian, a cherry tree and appropriately George Washington’s signature. Jane McGown is chairman of the board of the National Guild of Pearl K. McGown Rug Hookrafters. Her mother, who designed the rug was Pearl K. McGown (1891-1970) and had her design business in Sterling, Mass. referred to as “The Bee Hive”. SIZE: 35″ x 50″.
