MAHOGANY CHIPPENDALE HIGHBOY BASE.

Circa 1750-1775, Philadelphia. A refined example with claw and ball carved feet, shell carved knees, elaborated central shell drawer with punch work background and applied tendril carving. The case with engaged fluted quarter columns, the sides with double arcaded design with medial drop pendant, the front with rhythmic scrolling of rounded arcades and positive and negative scrolled lobes. Pierced brasses appear to be original. SIZE: Case: 38″ h x 42-1/4″ l x 24″ w. Requires a top that is 23″ x 40″. CONDITION: Fair, obviously missing upper bonnet top case, with injuries and old repairs to lower box drawer faces, carvings appear to be original and reasonably intact. Legs potentially by a different hand than the shelf drawer. Proper left rear foot with repairs, rear legs restored. 51348-45 (1,200-1,800) – Lot 2329
