*FINE CUSTOM GRIFFIN & HOWE MODEL 70 WITH SCOPE.

SN 496399. Cal. 7mm. Rem mag. 24″ Medium weight sporter bbl has banded on front sight, and is engraved “Made Especially For Alex Hochner Jr. No 2601 Griffin & Howe, New York, N. Y.” (ca 1974). Pre 64 Model 70 action is fitted with Lyman 48 sight base, and has had tang slightly re-shaped, Canjar trigger installed, and bolt knob nicely checkered and engraved. Trigger guard has had button release installed. Floorplate and trigger guard, as well as grip cap, have well cut acanthus scroll, most likely done by Joe Fugger. Classic G&H style stock is fitted with checkered steel buttplate with trap, and ebony forend tip. Point pattern checkering is well cut and borderless. Leupold Vari-X III 3.5 x 10 scope with duplex reticle is in G&H side mount. CONDITION: Very fine to excellent. Metal has considerable silvering on sharp edges. Wood has finish worn through from normal handwear at carry points, and on high edges. Checkering somewhat worn. Rear sight staff is in butt trap. Bore is excellent. Action is smooth.
