TWO PAIR OF 19th CENTURY FRENCH MADE EPAULETS. Each pair housed in their original fitted tin boxes; one with sash cord; one having an anchor and rope insignia possibly Lt. Commander. The other with similar insignia with two oak leaves added indicating Full Commander. Along with epaulets is a pamphlet dated September 4, 1862 by Commander Geo. Henry Preble, USN with a written inscription on top from Preble. These epaulets through family lore belonged to Commander George Henry Preble, but we have not been able to verify this. SIZE: 6″ h x 9″ x 6″. PROVENANCE: From a private Maine Collection. CONDITION: Boxes show use. Epaulets are very good. Booklet damaged. 9-90931 (400-600)
