FULL BODY CARVED AND POLYCHROME PAINTED FIGURE OF A ROOSTER. Circa 1920, Maine. Robustly relief carved with colorful paint decorated surfaces over gessoed pine. Elaborately carved figure of a rooster, similar in style to an eagle carving by Joseph Romauld Bernier (1873-1952) of Saco/Biddeford, Maine. For a similar example see American Folk Sculpture by Robert Bishop, page 173, Plate 315. SIZE: 21″ T. CONDITION: Overall very good. Legs have been reattached at talon joints.
