FEDERAL MAHOGANY PRESENTATION TIMEPIECE.

First quarter 19th century, Massachusetts. The mahogany and gilt presentation banjo clock with brass finial. The enameled iron dial with Roman numeral chapter ring with single aperture. The eglomise throat with gilt floral bouquet flanked by brass side arms above the box base with original eglomise panel decorated with a manor house within a landscape, the gilt door with rope twist molding, all above a presentation bracket applied with spherules. The eight day brass movement with centerbolt attachment is a later addition. Offered with weight, pendulum, key, and finial. SIZE: 40″ h x 10″ w. PROVENANCE: Maralyn Young estate, Arundel/Falmouth Maine, being sold unreserved. CONDITION: Case retains old surface, finial is a replacement, dial and hour hand replaced although both are period, pendulum matches movement, weight is appropriate although probably not original, bezel door latch is not aligned, four spherules absent, some loss to gilding, fair to good. 51412-54 (800-1,200) – Lot 2263
