Outstanding oil on canvas depicting the ship in full sail, sailing right to left past Governors Island, NY Harbor. The ship flies the American flag and a bright red & white ship’s pennant. Two men are seen in rowboat in foreground, one tipping his hat to the ship as it sails by. Wonderful colored blue sky with pink highlighted clouds. Signed lower left “J B Smith & Son Brooklyn L.I.” and titled lower right. Housed in a wonderful lemon gold modern frame with gilt liner and artist & title plaque.
