FINE FEDERAL EAGLE INLAID MAHOGANY SQUARE CARD TABLE.

Circa 1800, mid-Atlantic region, probably Baltimore. Rectangular hinged top with canted corners, rosewood and yew cross-banding, and figural mahogany center panel, hinged with leaf edged tenons above the conforming frieze with central pictorial oval of displayed patriotic eagle, flanked by oval inlaid panels with contrasting string inlay borders raised on square tapered legs headed by rectangular inlay panels with canted corners, the legs continuing to cross-banded cuffs. SIZE: 30″ h x 37-1/4″ l x 18″ d. CONDITION: Veneers along table top edges lifting in small areas. Hinged top with warp at center and at proper right front corner. Original side hinges in place. Additional later hinges now mounted along rear edge of top. Oak hinges on flyleaf of rear legs with wear and looseness. Rear glue blocks replaced. Otherwise good. 51348-8 (5,000-7,000) – Lot 2232
