The tapered mug having top & bottom floral border, scroll handle and engraved presentation as follows: “Presented to Joshua Knight by the citizens of New York for his actions in saving four seamen from the wreck of the ship Sea Fox 30th October 1821”. Four pseudo English hallmarks to base, also “IWFORBES”, “IWF N.Y.” (John W. Forbes, Circa 1808-1838, New York, NY). Weight: 12 tr. oz. NOTE: The U.S. ship capsized in the Atlantic Ocean with the loss of twelve lives. She was on a voyage from New York to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. SIZE: 5″ h x 4″ dia.
