ATTRIBUTED TO ANTONIO JACOBSEN (American, 1850-1921) PORTRAIT OF THE SHIP “WESTERLAND”.

Unsigned oil on canvas portrait of the two-stack, four-mast, black hulled ship traveling right to left with smoke billowing from the stacks. Each stack is adorned by a five-pointed red star indicating “The Red Star Line”. The name eblazoned on the bow. The ship sails through rough water with white tipped green waves. Two men are seen on deck, all under a dark cloudy sky. Housed in a gold decorated molded wood frame. REFERENCE: According to the Antonio Jacobsen Checklist there were at least two oil painting of this size created of this ship. SIZE: 22″ x 36″. Overall: 26-3/4″ x 40-3/4″.
