MERWIN & HULBERT 2ND MODEL ARMY REVOLVER.

SN 11495. Cal. 44WCF. 7″ bbl. Full nickel finish. 2-pc hard rubber grips. Bbl shows 1-line Merwin & Hulbert patent mark on top. Left side of the bbl shows the manufacturer’s mark “The Hopkins & Allen Manufacturing Co. Norwich. Conn. U.S.A”. SN is stamped on the bottom of the buttstrap behind the lanyard ring. The frame shows “Calibre Winchester 1873” stamped on left side. Assembly no. 1043 appears on the inside of the left grip strap. The assembly no. also appears on the rear face of the cyl., on the rear face of the bbl lug, and scratched on the inside of the right grip. This gun is featured on Pg. 34 “The Story of Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Firearms” by Phelps 2nd Edition and Pg. 15 of the 1st Edition. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl retains 80% nickel finish that has lightly flaked and turned somewhat dull. Bbl markings are sharp and clear. Wedge screw has a broken ear. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Frame retains 80-90% dull nickel finish with minuscule dents and scratches overall. Cyl. also retains 80% dull nickel with some light scratches and dents and a drag mark around the rear periphery. Chambers are clean. Hammer and trigger guard are a smooth gray brown patina with traces of case color. Grips are fine with sharp checkering and no chips. Grips have developed a pleasing chocolate brown color which is common to this model.
