SET OF FIVE ART NOUVEAU SIDE CHAIRS BY EDOUARD DIOT.

Circa 1900, France. Each walnut chair with molded crestrail continuing to foliate carved shaped stiles centering an over-upholstered “butterfly wing” panel joined to the trapezoidal molded seat frame. Both covered in a blue/gray striped velvet fabric, raised on molded frontal legs and slightly curved rear legs. Note: Similar chairs illustrated in The Paris Salons 1895-1914, Volume III: Furniture by Alastair Duncan, published Antique Collector’s Club 1996, page 142. SIZE: 37″ h of back, 18″ h of seat. CONDITION: Structurally good. French polished surfaces intact with mellow patina. Fabric clean and well maintained. 50429-91 (3,000-5,000) – Lot 2214
