RARE ENGRAVED IRON AND BRASS TRAMMEL.

Circa 1836, Germany. This fine and unusual large example engraved with a stylized folk art pineapple beneath the inscription “ANNO/1836/IEGU”, above an engraved heart with the inscription “TREUE/UND/LIEBE” above a pair of potted plants, all above a stylized thistle over two aligned touch marks possibly identifying the maker. The adjustable arm engraved with a bird within a foliate border mounted with two turned brass knobs. The trammel has been slightly burnished. SIZE: 40″ l (closed). Approximately 52″ l (open). 15″ w. CONDITION: Burnished as noted, engravings and decoration in very good condition, brass elements with normal and expected denting from in use wear. One iron leaf tip present but detached, some adjustments need to be made to the stationary arm to allow for height adjustment, otherwise very good. 51400-11 (3,000-3,500) – Lot 2210
