SCANDINAVIAN MAHOGANY LOOKING GLASS IN THE QUEEN ANNE TASTE.

Second half 18th century, Denmark. The rectangular beveled mirror plate with scalloped and shaped edge within the conforming wavy molded frame surmounted by a scalloped pressed shallow oval depression. The crest and frame back with chamfered edges. SIZE: 31″ t x 15″ w. PROVENANCE: Downeast Maine home, descendant of Knud Rasmussen, famous Danish arctic explorer whose “greatest achievement” was the massive Fifth Thule Expedition (1921–1924) being sold unreserved. CONDITION: Mirror with old and original surface. Mirror plate original as is backboard, now with chocolate brown patina. Very good overall. 51323-6 (500-800) – Lot 2206
