FINE GALLE ART NOUVEAU EXPOSITION TABLE.

Circa 1900, Emile Galle, France. The top with superb marquetry of fanciful flowers and vinery throughout which are lines from Fleur du mal by Charles Baudelaire. Signed beneath “Galle Ernest Meissonier” and further inlaid stating the Exposition opened in 1889 and closed in 1900. The shaped top with applied molded edge raised on fluted tree form legs with simulated bark joined to the medial shelf depicting a floral landscape. Note: A similar example illustrated in Galle Furniture by Alastair Duncan and Georges de Bartha, Antique Collector’s Club, 2012, page 146, plate 42. SIZE: 29-3/4″ h x 28-1/4″ w x 19-3/4″ d.
