*FINE SEMPERT & KRIEGHOFF BLITZ ACTION DRILLING WITH HAND DETACHABLE FIRING MECHANISM.

SN 18362. Cal. 12 x 12 x 8x57R. 23-3/4″ Rochling Elektro steel bbls are mounted with full length matted rib fitted with Krieghoff’s neat sliding dovetail scope mounts, and pop-up V-notch (shotgun) and U-notch (rifle) rear sight. Krupp steel rifle bbl is stamped with proofs, SN, caliber, and proof date of 2/36. A sling loop is soldered to bottom bbl. Coin finished, scallop-backed, Blitz action features Krieghoff’s patented removable firing mechanism taken down by turning grip cap 1/8 turn to left, removal of lever/ screw in front of trigger guard, lifting a lever which runs along the grip, and removing mechanism. Action also features rifle/ shotgun selector on top tang, Greener type side safety, pin type cocking indicators on top of action, Greener crossbolt, side clips, slight action reinforcing bolsters, and double triggers (front set). Trigger guard is of horn. Action is engraved with very nicely rendered Germanic acanthus scroll with fine beaded background, and well detailed vignettes of game animals on sides; a bugling stag and hind on left, and roebuck and doe on right. Broadly streaked and lightly figured European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 12-7/16″ over removable (with single large screw slotted for coin) ribbed horn buttplate which covers cartridge trap, with space for one shotgun shell and two rifle cartridges. Stock features small right hand shadow line cheekpiece, point pattern checkering, and a sling loop matching that on bbl. Matching splinter forend has Deeley type release. Drop at heel: approx 3″, drop at comb: approx 1-11/16″. Weight: 7 lbs 3 oz. LOP: 12-7/16″. CONDITION: Excellent, as slightly re-worked. Bbls retain over 90% of their orig satin blue, silvered on sharp edges, and with some pitting noted on right side of left bbl, with bluing touched up. Action retains most of its orig coin finish, and is a pleasing pewter gray. Stocks retain a considerable amount of what appears to be their orig finish with some oil rubbed in over numerous marks and light scratches, comb appears to have been taken down and refinished. Horn of trigger guard shows some scratches, and there is light worm damage to buttplate. Checkering is good, somewhat gummed. Shotgun bores are excellent and bright with one or two minor small pits, and a couple of light dents toward muzzles. Rifle bore is brilliant, with sharp rifling throughout. Sempert & Krieghoff firearms are very highly regarded as to their quality. 48990-3 MGM1 (5,000-8,000) – Lot 2204
