Cal. .404 Jeffery. 24″ Medium weight sporter bbl is fitted with island base for one standing, two folding leaf express rear sight with the V’s uncut, sleeved-on sling eye, and sleeved-on front ramp with sourdough bead. Removal of stock reveals anti-recoil block screwed and soldered to bottom of bbl. Left rear is engraved with caliber. Standard length Model 98 action has Mauser logo on stippled receiver ring. A tall square bridge has been added. A Griffin & Howe scope base is affixed to side wall. Blackburn trigger has been installed. Bolt has had pear shaped knob added, and shank is cut away for scope clearance. After market bolt shroud has three position safety. Custom made drop box bottom metal has hinged straddle floorplate and release button in bow. Red toned, lightly marbled and figured European walnut steel capped pistol grip stock measures 13-7/8″ over Silver type pad with spur, and features ebony forend tip, recoil bolt, sling eye, and cleanly cut point pattern checkering with line borders at grip and forend. Swarovski Habicht 1.25 – 4 x 24 scope with heavy circular duplex reticle is in G&H aluminum slide with steel rings. Weight with scope: 10 lbs 6 oz. LOP: 13-7/8”. CONDITION: Essentially as new, retaining all of its custom finishes on wood and metal, with a few light handling marks. Bore is excellent. Action is smooth. Scope is excellent.
