FINE CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY TILT TOP TEA TABLE.

Last third 18th century, Philadelphia. The round figural top with scalloped edge tilting and turning on a birdcage support joined to the reeded shaft above a mid-molded suppressed ball above a foliate carved border joined to a cabriole leg tripod base, foliate carved at the knees, raised on outswept ball and talon feet. SIZE: 48″ h x 29-1/2″ dia. PROVENANCE: From a fine private Long Island, NY collection. CONDITION: Clean polished old if not original surfaces. Old lateral tight shrinkage cracks at mid-point of top.
