RARE SCANDINAVIAN ENGRAVED IRON.

First quarter 19th century, Denmark. The boat shaped body with sliding gate opening to an interior for heating stone, engraved on the surface with a potted flowering plant within a border of engaged diamonds with pointilated edges. The turned handle raised on molded scrolling cast supports. SIZE: 6-1/2″ t x 7-1/2″ l x 4″ w. CONDITION: Finely worn and polished. The surfaces with normal and expected slight denting. The (bow) end worn and exhibiting a loss to the brass and with subsequent small hole, otherwise very good. 51400-4 (2,800-3,200) – Lot 2188
