SUPERB LARGE ANTIQUE RUSSIAN SILVER SHADED GILT & ENAMELLED KOVSH WITH MATCHING SPOON BY MARIA SEMYENOVA.

Circa 1908-1917 A great example of Russian enameling having delicate shading with robust colors of gold, blue green and red. The bowl & spoon both with allover foliate and flower decoration, the bowl having a large gold 2-headed eagle at the front. The koush with oval bowl and stylized hook from handle. Both pieces are marked with 84 zolotniks standard (875 silver) & master’s initials “MC” for Maria Semyenova. Total combined weight of spoon & bowl: 26 tr. oz. SIZE: Bowl: 5-1/4″ h x 9-1/4″ l. Spoon: 7-3/4″ l. PROVENANCE: The property of an Eastern Connecticut family that emigrated with this piece from Poland in the 1930s. CONDITION: Spoon with loss to small area of enameling.
