GROUP OF CIVIL WAR LETTERS. Two Civil War soldier letters, one from a soldier in the 20th Maine written July 17th, 1863 on patriotic stationary written in pencil and signed “Dan”. Adelbert Ames 4-page ALS written from Folly Island, SC October 7th, 1863 with good military content concerning General Ames’ view of how the war is going. Winfield Scott Hancock 1-page ALS from Washington, DC November 24, 1868 concerning payment due in the death of a US Captain. Civil War Treasury document signed by Salmon P. Chase in 1862 as Lincoln’s Secretary of Treasury. An additional manuscript of a song found by a Union soldier in a “rebel camp”. CONDITION: Generally good, one letter glued to album page. 9-90954 (400-600)
