FINE AARON WILLARD MAHOGANY SHELF CLOCK.

First quarter 19th century, Boston, Massachusetts. The bonnet with pierced fretwork centering the reeded pillar with three brass spire urn turned finials. The door with shaped molded edge, the glass panel conforming to the enamel dial with Arabic numeral chapter ring and seconds dial. Above the inscription “Aaron Willard, BOSTON.” within a delicate gilt scrolling cartouche. The eight day unmarked brass movement weight driven and mounted on original seat board. The box base of good figured mahogany with contrasting string inlays within a cross-banded border on a molded base with ogee bracket feet. SIZE: 34″ t x 14-1/4″ w x 6-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From a Maine/Texas estate being sold unreserved. CONDITION: Fretwork and finials appear original. Movement has been cleaned and restored. Dial and hands original. Pendulum original.
