PAINTED LEATHER FIRE BUCKET FROM THE “ATTENTIVE” FIRE SOCIETY OF BOSTON.

Early 19th century. Boston, Massachusetts. Very well painted leather fire bucket, having a red background with painted scrolls, clasped hands, and cartouches and scroll identifying it as bucket number one for owner “John Rupp – Attentive”. REF: Boston Fire Historical Society documents that the Attentive Fire Society was founded with constitution and rules from 1803, and was formed in 1810. SIZE: 12-1/2″ t. CONDITION: Handle detached on one side, leather on handle badly decayed. Bucket very good with minor loss on back of top edge, scratches and paint loss commensurate with age and use. 9-94898 (1,500-2,500) – Lot 2086
