SUPERB SMALL SLIDE TOP SCHOOLGIRL DECORATED BOX.

Finely decorated figured maple box circa 1820, New England. The top with painted bee skep on stand and rosebush, the sides are decorated, the first a landscape with 3/4 federal house, the second with a pair of lovebirds on rose bouquet, the third with a wreath of roses and bow, the fourth a delicate floral spray. Constructed with mitered corners, the interior with three storage compartments probably for sewing implements. The end fitted with holes for thread dispensing. Secondary wood is pine. Signed “Mrs. Eunice Foster, Weston” SIZE: 1 3/4″ H, 6 1/4″ W, 3″ D CONDITION: Very fine clean original condition with very minor abrasion commensurate with age 9-93735 (1,200-1,800) – Lot 2053
